Kaleidoscope of Culture Begins – More than 100 Programmes as an Overture to Five Weeks of Art

The fifth Kaleidoscope of Culture, the best European Trend Brand in the field of culture, starts in two days – 1 September, and until 4 September, it will include more than 100 artistic programmes at 27 locations in the Novi Sad District (Despota Stefana Boulevard 5). The audience will follow the programmes on the performance and music stages, two film stages, as well as in renovated spaces in the District, such as Fabrika, Radionica, Biro, Skladište, Gvožđara and Lančara, where 22 exhibitions, 12 film screenings, and 22 concerts, various performances, forums and panels, which bring together 400 artists from 40 countries, await us.

The opening of the biggest artistic gathering in this part of Europe, through five types of art, will be marked by one of the largest interactive installations in Europe called ‘Autocorrect’ by the Karkatag art collective, which extends over 300 square meters on the façade of Fabrika. With its media content and movement, the system of robotized machines and devices creates a specific dance on the façade, transforming the Fabrika building into a stage, and thereby involving passers-by in a magical choreography.

Radionica, Fabrika, Gvožđara, Biro, Skladište, Lančara, as well as open spaces near the aforementioned facilities, will be homes for 22 exhibitions, with which the programme will officially begin at 7 p.m. European and regional experts in the field of stage design, artists of the younger generation, students of the Academy of Arts, the best young photographers from 36 countries, development teams from the field of video games that connects science and art, new media artist such as Vladimir Lalić, Dorijan Kolundžija and Gorana Despotovski, but also acknowledged Novi Sad painters Petar Mirković, Boris Lukić and Tadija Janičić, as well as French contemporary painters, will be presented through visual art.

In the field of performing arts, on the first day of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, Grammy winner Dobet Gnahore will perform with Novi Sad artists and volunteers in a performance that will be an artistic and critical response to the famous slet – ‘Windward – An Answer to Slet’ on Theatre Stage 1, while on Theatre Stage 2, an hour later, the play ‘Sofia’ by the Bitef Teatar will be performed. The audience will watch the ‘Time Capsule’ performance next to the Liman Cultural Station. Furthermore, until 4 September, the renowned Swedish choreographer of Japanese origin, Satoshi Kudo, as well as leading regional dance ensembles, such as the National Ballet of North Macedonia, Bitef Teatar, Zagreb Dance Centre and others, will join the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture.

During the opening, a rich music programme also awaits us. The first evening will be marked by the performance of DJ Filip Grujić and the Vladimir Samardžić Trio +1 on Music Stage 2. Turbo Trans Turisti, the Macedonian band 21. Vek, as well as the band Moussaka, will perform in the Proizvodnja facility. Until 4 September, Apocalyptica, Hercules and Love Affair, Pocket Palma, Republica, Boris Kovač, LP duo, Dragon’s Fuel, Novo lice udaraljki, DJ Zakiri, DJ Traumer, VROOOM, Brainstorm & Dance, Say Cinnamon, Short Reports, Tidal Pull, DJ Vukašin Vojvodić, DJ Voja Killo Killo, Prisoners of Surprise, Fusion Masters, Yugo Bleja, Natalieé, Manivi, A.N.D.R. x Retrospektiva, SevdahBABY, Jana Vuković, Iva Lawrence, Ata, Galatheia and Tam will perform.

On the first day of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, the remastered ‘Some Other Woman’ film will be shown at the Czech Magazine, as well as ‘The Game’ and ‘Don’t Bet on the Brits’, which will be shown at the Živojin Ćulum student dormitory.

Traffic will be closed until 6 September on the part of Despota Stefana Boulevard, between the Liberty Bridge and the District, as well as on the street between the Živojin Ćulum student dormitory and the District. The parking ban will be valid in the District zone – around the basketball court.
