In the year in which Novi Sad proudly held the title of European Capital of Culture, the fifth Kaleidoscope of Culture was held from 1 September to 7 October.

The year-long project of the culture of togetherness, and one of the largest programme archs within the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ project, during five weeks presented five types of art. Through various processes, artists, cultural institutions, non-governmental organizations, visitors came together, and at the end of the summer they presented spaces and programmes throughout the city, promoting a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad.

Novi Sad becomes a city-scene in which everyone is given the opportunity to create their own kaleidoscope of culture regarding architecture, literature, performing, visual and applied arts, during all five weeks of the programme. In addition to this, the Kaleidoscope of Culture will repurpose the famous Novi Sad spaces with a new look, open new places for culture – the District, and enrich the programme of the network of cultural stations.

In the year of the ECoC title, when the Kaleidoscope of Culture was held for the fifth time, the programmes at the four-day opening in the District were the most visited, followed by the traditional Korzo, an open-air classical music concert, which closed one of the city’s main roads. One of the world’s greatest violinists, Julian Rachlin, ‘walked’ down the Korzo.

Artists and other cultural stakeholders, different spaces and numerous programmes form a unique picture of the diversity of the Kaleidoscope of Culture and give a new image to culture in Novi Sad.
