‘From Sava to Sava’ @ The Gallery of Matica Srpska

Originally built for the purposes of the stock exchange of Novi Sad, the Gallery of Matica Srpska building went from the treasures of material to spiritual and cultural richness of one nation. Collection of paintings, graphics, sculptures represents both our turbulent history and a chance for the future of our tendencies. The present time is the time when analogue and digital cross paths. The Gallery is observing the direction of contemporary artistic practices and opening its door to it, constantly expanding the collection.

Among other works, the Gallery of Matica Srpska collection consists of the former collections of the individuals, such as a family collection of Sava Tekelija, collection of Miloš Bokšan and contemporary collection of Sava Stepanov.

In a special way, all of these collections ‘title’ to the Gallery of Matica Srpska kaleidoscope, which will be interpreted in different ways within the ‘From Sava to Sava – Private Collections by the Gallery of Matica Srpska’ programme.

The project popularizes these collections and makes the wider audience, especially the young ones, more acquainted with the private collections of the Gallery of Matica Srpska.

‘From Sava to Sava – Private Collections by the Gallery of Matica Srpska’ programme consists of the works selected from the private collections (Gift Collection of Sava Tekelija, Gift Collection of Miloš Bokšan and Gift Collection of Sava Stepanov), which will be interpreted through the fine art of the young animator, Milica Blešić, student of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.
