‘75.000 – the Value of a Work of Art’ @Svilara CS

What determines the value of a work of art? What is the ratio between artistic and financial value of a work of art? Why is it important?

The ‘75.000 – the Value of a Work of Art’ project by Luka Kulić reassesses the value of a single work of art in the context of conditions in which artists live, create and work. Part of the name of the project – 75,000, taken from the proposal of the ‘Artists. Now!’ open call as an individual grant that was given to an applicant, was set as a starting point for the dialogue about the amount of necessary/preferable/sufficient funds for the implementation of one or more artistic works.

The essence of the project is to, within the production of a reflexive work of art, its public presentation and lecture analyse and define elements and determinants of the value of a work of art that artists face nowadays. The aim of the project is to encourage development of public thinking about the value of a work of art and creation of critical thinking on contemporary art in a society.

The public auction of the work of art that was created within the project, will take place at the end of the lecture, with the goal of in situ determination of value of the work of art in the context of analysing the elements that define the value.
