International Festival of Alternative and New Theatre – INFANT and Days of American Culture will be held in Creative District in Novi Sad, in the period from 2 until 5 September, within the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, the project by the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation.
Aleksandar Popovski, a selector of the festival, the famous theatre and film director, adapted the main programme to the epidemiological situation. Therefore, the audience will have an opportunity to see plays from Maribor, Zagreb, Novi Sad, and Belgrade.
During the four days of festival, the following plays will compete for the prize: ‘Post Office’ play by the Slovene National Theatre Maribor, ‘Spectacle’ play by the Studio Contemporary Dance Company, Zagreb, ‘The Goalkeeper’s Fear of the Penalty’ play by the Serbian National Theatre, Novi Sad and ‘As If the End Were Not Quite Near’ play by the BITEF theatre. This year’s jury members are Ista Stepanov, ballet master and choreographer; Nenad Pećinar, theatre and film actor, and Nejc Gazvoda, Slovene writer, screenwriter, and director.
In addition to the main programme, rich and diverse follow-up programme has been prepared, while it will be moderated by directors, actors, choreographers, dramaturges, and circus artists. The entrance is free of charge for all visitors, in accordance with the current epidemiological measures.
Four days of the gala opening in Creative District, at the site of Great Liman, will be an overture in the five weeks of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, form 2 September until 8 October. Within five arts – architecture, literature, visual, applied and performing arts, programme will be held across Novi Sad, thus giving visitors an opportunity to choose and create their own kaleidoscope of culture,
Ars Electronica from Linz, the national pavilion of one of the most important European institutions for new media, will be presented during the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, within which the representatives of Novi Sad Academy of Art will exhibit their works. The CGA conference that will gather experts in the field of computer graphics, as well as the ‘Matter Through Time. Sand, Wood, Stone, Metal in the Age of Digitization’ exhibition by the students from Austria’s St. Pölten, will also be held. The audience will have a chance to enjoy the ‘Obnova’ Film Festival, ‘A Comic Strip Tour of Belgium’ exhibition and numerous other contents that will be announced in the following weeks.
