42 Projects Selected within the Kaleidoscope of Culture National Call

Within the ‘Artists. Now’ public call, dedicated to artists from the whole of Serbia for the first time, 42 projects were selected. They will be implemented within this year’s Kaleidoscope of Culture, which takes place from 1 September until 7 October. The call was launched by the ’Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation, with the aim to strengthen the art scene by increasing the visibility of young, emerging artists and topics.

Since the Kaleidoscope of Culture represents five forms of art (performing art, visual art, applied art, literature and architecture), projects selected within the call are diverse and comprise stage art, performing art and fine art, audio-visual and digital art, multimedia projects, literature, musicals, circus and street art, etc.

Kaleidoscope of Culture is a year-round project dedicated to the culture of togetherness that connects artists, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations, citizens, and visitors through different processes. The selected artworks and programmes will be presented in cultural stations, Creative District and at ‘New Places’ – small, urban, public spaces in Novi Sad.

The Kaleidoscope of Culture, together with Doček, is the programme arch of the European Capital of Culture that led to Novi Sad receiving the award for Best European Trend Brand in the field of culture in Dresden in November 2021. These are the only two programme arches, out of eight, that have been implemented for five years now and intend to remain legacies to the city even after the title.

The ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation launched the call ‘Artists. Now’ two years ago as a support to the local art scene fighting the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, with the aim to raise the capacities of the artistic scene, thus encouraging networking between artists from our country, Europe and the world.

From the very beginning, the call ‘Artists. Now’ has been supported by IDEA.
