The Opening is the Kaleidoscope of Culture in miniature, and as such, its film programme is a must-see part of its rich programme, consisting of over a hundred events, happening in the District area, one of the most important infrastructure projects of Novi Sad as the European Capital of Culture, from 1 to 4 September.
During the opening, at two locations in the District, Češki Magacin and Dom A, the films in that are a part of the competition programme of the Obnova Film Festival will be shown. This includes eight new local movies, as well as the popular film How I Learned to Fly by Radivoje Raša Andrić, who is this year’s winner of the festival’s special award for contribution to domestic cinematography. The audience will also be presented with the Novi Sad premiere of the film Some Other Woman, which has been digitally restored as part of the film heritage preservation project of A1 Kinoteka. This project is realised jointly by A1 Serbia and the Yugoslav Film Archive.
Admission to all screenings is free, with the previous reservation. You can reserve tickets from 26 to 31 August in three ways: on the website of the Obnova Film Festival, by sending an email to rezervacija@ffobnova.rs or by calling +381 61 654 63 94 (from 5 to 8 p.m.). Reserved tickets can be picked up in the hall of the Arena Cineplex cinema, from 29 to 31 August, from 5 to 8 p.m.

In addition to the film programme, we can expect a rich music programme, many exhibitions, installations, theatre programmes, including dance shows and performances, a conference with workshops and panel programmes, etc. at the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture.
In the title year of the European Capital of Culture, the Kaleidoscope of Culture will be held for the fifth time, from 1 September to 7 October. Throughout Novi Sad, almost 1,000 artists and experts in the fields of architecture, literature, visual, performing and applied arts from 67 countries will implement more than 250 events.
