The ‘Grand Hotel’ Play

The ‘Grand Hotel’ dance theatre play by opera and theatre Madlenianum, choreographed by Aleksandar Ilić and directed by Aleksandar Nikolić, will be performed on 5 September, the second day of the opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, in Creative District. The contemporary dance play does not illustratively describe the film of the same name, but deals with the time and reassessment of characters closed in a hotel. The situation we witness during the isolation period.

The time is elusive, irretrievable, sometimes brutal, confusing, accurate and inaccurate. In Grand Hotel, the time has been stopped with beauty, seduction and erotica of characters.

The ‘Grand Hotel’ play is performed by Mojca Majcen, Ognjen Vučinić, Branko Mitrović, Jakša Filipovac and ‘Gospođe’ dance theatre (Nada Kecman, Mira Ivančević, Marina Maraš, Milica Bezmarević, Biljana Knežević, Vesna Stipišić and Katarina Stojkov Slijepčević).

Music: Ana Krstajić; Scenography: Žorž Draušnik; Costume design: Aleksandra Karović.

The fourth Kaleidoscope of Culture will be held from 2 September until 8 October 2021. During five weeks, this yearlong project of culture of togetherness that connects artists, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations, citizens and visitors through various processes, will present five types of art. At the end of summer, the Kaleidoscope of Culture will present spaces and programmes throughout the city, promoting a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad.
