Feel the Pulse of the District through the Heartbeat of the Heart Sculpture

The interactive sculpture Heart by Milijana Komad, PhD, and a pioneer in the field of digital technologies and art, will be shown to the Novi Sad audience in the District from 23 September at 7. p.m. as part of the Applied Arts Week of the sixth Kaleidoscope of Culture in Novi Sad. Visitors will be able to see the sculpture until 10 October.

Opening hours: from September 30 to October 7, the sculpture will be on display 24 hours a day, and then until October 15, visitors will be able to visit it from 12:00 to 20:00 (except Mondays and Tuesdays, when the object will be closed).

The Heart is a monumental sculpture inspired by the concept of synchronicity, unity and love. Made of high-quality stainless steel, with a silicone surface that simulates the skin of the human heart. Through its interactivity, the interactive sculpture will enhance the feeling of belonging between people. One of the peculiarities that make the Heart extraordinary are the sensors placed in the sculpture itself, which make the heart beats faster when more people touch the sculpture at the same time. The Heart will be lit inside and out, which will create an additional visual effect. Touch the Heart of the District, connect with it and feel its pulse.

The sculpture will also attract attention with its imposing size of 5 metres high and 3 metres wide, which will make it visible from all parts of the District. Through the interactivity of the sculpture, visitors will have the opportunity to experience a unique artistic adventure that will stimulate their senses and emotions. This is the first thermal installation in the world that contains 4 km of foil, 200 square meters of batting, 800 meters of wire and 1 t and 200 kg of metal, making it a 2 ton sculpture.

Those who dare to overcome all fears and enter the Heart – symbolically spend some time inside – will have the opportunity to leave a message on a camera that will be installed inside.

‘With this work, I wished to materialize what has been talked about since the beginning of civilization – about love and about someone in our heart. Many people fight against loving and letting anyone into their heart for fear of being hurt, and those who do this feel an empty hole in their hearts. This interactive sculpture would be a materialized way to visualize something that moves the world – LOVE’ – said Milijana Komad, PhD in digital art with many years of experience in design.

In addition to the creator of the work Milijana Komad, videographer Nikola Radek, sculptor Miloš Momčilović, painter Dragana Didanović and engineer Goran Mičeta worked on the realization of this sculpture. Dragoljub Dimitrijević is in charge of electronics, while Lavoslava Benčić is in charge of soft electronics. The realization would not have been possible without numerous volunteers and other collaborators.

The fields of research of the artist Miljana Komad are artificial intelligence, transhumanism, technological singularity, futurism, simulation and simulacrum. She does not believe in contemporary art and believes that the time of artists has passed, believing that it is time for creators and innovators to form cultural reality.
