You will have a chance to see the ‘Udarna vest’ play (en. Breaking News), a self-penned project by Minja Bogavac and Marko Grubić, within the literature festival ‘Podgrađe Booktown’, at the main stage in the Suburbium of the Petrovaradin Fortress in Beogradska Street on 19 September, at 9:30 p.m.
The ‘Udarna vest’ play deals with the phenomenon of mass communication in modern society, with the special emphasis on the relationship between media and fear, i.e., on media-generated paranoia and human neurosis as consequences of media today.
Starting with the question of why breaking news is always bad news, the play turns into a dynamic, tragicomic staging of a study on the nature of modern media and their influence on the psyche of an individual and social behavioural patterns. Influence on personal and collective, on intimate and public. By analysing media, the play analyses modern society and the ways we get to know it.
This is how the play refers to the key phenomena of life in a mediatised world, which is the road to ‘new literacy’, i.e., to skills of discovering misinformation and media manipulation, through nurturing a greater degree of media culture. Therefore, the aim of the play is a demonstration of knowledge in the field of media literacy, which can be a prevention of the prevalence of anxiety and attention disorder.

‘Udarna vest’ is a debut production of the ‘Trinidad d.o.o.’ production company and is co-produced by Grad Cultural Centre from Belgrade.
The fourth Kaleidoscope of Culture will be held from 2 September until 8 October 2021. During five weeks, this yearlong project of culture of togetherness that connects artists, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations, citizens and visitors through various processes, will present five types of art. At the end of summer, the Kaleidoscope of Culture will present spaces and programmes throughout the city, promoting a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad.
