Two projects that will be implemented at two locations in Novi Sad were selected within the ‘New Places’ call for improvement of small public spaces: the viewpoint above the tunnel after the Liberty Bridge and the green surface on the Patrijarha Pavla Boulevard.
The Novi Sad nest, the platform or the path winding down and climbing back, overlooking the city, with the highest points giving the view over Ribarsko ostrvo, i.e., the Petrovaradin Fortress, will be placed at the viewpoint above the tunnel after the Liberty Bridge. The path will be available to pedestrians and cyclists, while it got the name in accordance with the symbol of the city of Novi Sad. The project was carried out by architects: Krsta Radovanović, Dejan Mitov, Jelena Mitov and Ines Čović.
The project on the Patrijarha Pavla Boulevard includes a new oasis for the neighbourhood and citizens of Novi Sad. The oasis consists of an urban garden, an open library, exhibition space, urban furniture (benches and flowerpots), as well as the gathering point. The project was carried out by architects: Ognjen Milićević and Katarina Milovanović.
The ‘New Places’ call was launched by the ‘Novi Sad – European Capital of Culture’ Foundation’ Foundation, Association of Novi Sad Architects and City Administration for Construction Land and Investments, within the preparations for the Kaleidoscope of Culture, which continues to develop the idea of new standards in contemporary architecture of the capital of culture.
Architects, urbanists, landscape architects, and students in these fields had the right to participate in the public call.
The projects for the remaining two locations (The Gallery Square and Park – the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina) have not been selected, while you can find more information about the projects and expert jury members on the website of the Association of Novi Sad Architects.
