You’ll have the opportunity to watch the immersive play ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Dimitrije Beljanski, directed by Vladislav Velkovski, in the Egység Cultural Station on 21 September at 8 p.m. within literature week of the Kaleidoscope of Culture.
Immersive theatre is the most widespread form of interactive theatre. The plays within this theatre are not performed on a classical stage but rather in a site-specific environment, i.e., in places adequate for the plot of the play. The actors address the viewers as individuals and invite them to participate in the play, thus providing everyone with a unique experience.
The Troupe of Immersive Contemporary Theater – TITE, which was formed in 2020 with the wish to nurture the new form of contemporary theatre expression, chose Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll for its first performance because the fantastic plot of the novel gives enough freedom to play with space, which is the main element of immersive theatre.
The fourth Kaleidoscope of Culture will be held from 2 September until 8 October 2021. During five weeks, this yearlong project of culture of togetherness that connects artists, cultural institutions, non-governmental organisations, citizens and visitors through various processes, will present five types of art. At the end of summer, the Kaleidoscope of Culture will present spaces and programmes throughout the city, promoting a unique image of the diversity of Novi Sad.
