Exhibition On the Path of Serbian art 1923 – 2023: From Konjović to Marina Abramović will be opened on September 30 in the Workshop facility in the District, and will be held within the visual arts week at this year’s sixth Kaleidoscope of Culture.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view this unique exhibition until October 30, twice from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (except Mondays and Tuesdays), and get to know the biggest names of Serbian art in the last 100 years, including Sava Šumanović, Milan Konjović, Milenko Šerban, Zora Petrović, Milena Pavlović Barili, Olja Ivanjicki, Mića Popović , Vladimir Veličković, Marina Abramović, Katalin Ladik, Raša Todosijević and others.
The exhibition is designed as an overview of the most significant events in Serbian modern art during the past hundred years. In this range, working within the Yugoslav cultural space until 2006, numerous prominent artists from Sava Šumanović to Marina Abramović realized the dynamic development of numerous ideas and achievements that already today represent the rich and valuable cultural and historical heritage of Serbia. The exhibition begins with the works of painters who accepted Cubism, which started the history of modern art, and ends with the works of artists who, after the year 2000, accepted the postulates of contemporary technological art.
The exhibition will present the most significant points and peculiarities of the continuous development of painting, sculpture and other achievements in a total of seven settings. It will be followed by a series of interesting presentations, talks, screenings and other programs dedicated to Serbian art of the twentieth and beginning of this century.
