This weekend, the European Capital of Culture<\/strong><\/a> is becoming a centre of the written word, gathering European, regional and local authors since the ongoing Kaleidoscope of Culture<\/strong> enters its third week, which is dedicated to literature. The event that opens the literature week on 17 and 18 September<\/strong> will be the Booktown<\/a><\/strong>, which is being relocated from the Suburbium of the Petrovaradin Fortress to SPENS<\/strong> due to unfavourable weather conditions. The entrance to all events is free.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the main stage, in front of \u2018Gradska kafana\u2019, one of the most significant writers, L\u00e1szl\u00f3 V\u00e9gel<\/strong> will present its work, while the audience will have a chance to hear the humourists from Montenegro, The Books of Knjige<\/strong>. On Sunday, 18 September, the NIN award winner Vladimir Pi\u0161talo<\/strong>, one of the most widely read regional writers Vedrana Rudan<\/strong>, young author Aleksandar Tanurd\u017ei\u0107<\/strong>, designer, visual artist and writer Slavimir Stojanovi\u0107 Futro<\/strong>, and great Serbian actress Svetlana Ceca Bojkovi\u0107<\/strong>, will take the same stage.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, due to the illness of an author,\u00a0the promotion of the book\u00a0\u2018Neo\u0161trine\u2019 by Sanja Savi\u0107 Milosavljevi\u0107<\/a><\/strong> has been cancelled.<\/p>\n

The literature event that puts Novi Sad in line with European cities, the Literature Night<\/strong>, taking place for the third year in a row within the Kaleidoscope of Culture, will gather authors from eight countries in different objects at SPENS on the ground floor. Sponsored by the UNICEF, artists who will present their work during the Literature Night in Novi Sad are Rosella Postorino (Italy), Radu Pavel Gheo (Romania), Ljuba Arnautovi\u0107 (Austria), Stevan Bradi\u0107 (Serbia), Ben Clark (Spain), Cornelia H\u00fclmbauer (Austria), Sophie Daull (France) and Nata\u0161a Kramberger (Slovenia).<\/p>\n

The Farewell Concert by the Famous La\u010dni Franz, the Monodrama by the Great Petar Bo\u017eovi\u0107 and the Film Classic from 1946<\/h4>\n

The Booktown, although primarily focused on literature, puts the emphasis on performing arts, introducing great names. On the first day, the famous Slovenian band La\u010dni Franz<\/strong>, with frontman Zoran Predin<\/strong>, will start the tour of farewell concerts, and this is going to happen right here, in Novi Sad. In addition to the great name on the music scene, on 17 September, the great actor, legendary Petar Bo\u017eovi\u0107<\/strong>, will come and perform his monodrama \u2018A Fella Told Me, We Will Talk Again, When I\u2019m Younger\u2019. The film screening of the film classic by Frank Capra from 1946, \u2018It\u2019s a Wonderful Life\u2019<\/strong>, declared one of the top 100 greatest films of all time by the American Film Institute, will also enrich the Booktown programme.<\/p>\n

Children\u2019s Programme at the Opening of the Booktown<\/h4>\n

The events will be opened with a children\u2019s programme on both days of the weekend starting at 3 p.m. On Saturday, 17 September, children and their parents will have a chance to enjoy performances by Voja Brajovi\u0107<\/strong>, the choir \u2018\u010carolija\u2019<\/strong> led by Leontina<\/strong>, the children\u2019s choir \u2018Zvon\u010di\u0107i\u2019<\/strong> and other programmes. On the next day, 18 September, actor Zijah Sokolovi\u0107<\/strong> will read fairy tales, and the famous children\u2019s choir \u2018Kolibri\u2019<\/strong> will sing for the audience, whereas the \u2018Visoko C\u2019 Association of Artists will perform children\u2019s operas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Literature Week lasts until 23 September and will comprise more than 20 events across Novi Sad.<\/p>\n

The Kaleidoscope of Culture lasts until 7 October, while after literature week<\/strong><\/a>, visual arts week<\/strong><\/a> and applied arts week<\/strong><\/a> are ahead of us.<\/p>\n
