During the literature week<\/a> within the third Kaleidoscope of Culture, on Wednesday, 23 September<\/strong>, the audience will have a chance to enjoy series of discussions about literature named \u2018Oko(m) Knjige\u2019, initiated by the Egys\u00e9g Cultural Station<\/a><\/span> in March this year.<\/p>\n

Alen Be\u0161i\u0107<\/strong>, literary critic, poet, translator and editor, will introduce himself at 8 p.m. The audience will have a chance to follow the discussion in the Egys\u00e9g Cultural Station, as well as via Instagram page of this cultural station<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Alen Be\u0161i\u0107 was born in Biha\u0107 in 1975. He has published four collections of poems and two books of critiques and essays so far. He has won several awards for literary and translation works, among which the most famous one was \u2018Milo\u0161 \u0110uri\u0107\u2019 award for translation of selected poems by Tony Hoagland. He lives in Novi Sad, where he works as an editor of \u2018Polje\u2019, internationally recognised magazine.<\/p>\n

The programme is moderated and edited by Katarina Kosti\u0107<\/strong>, editor of the \u2018Prerazmi\u0161ljavanje\u2019 portal. Katarina and Alen Be\u0161i\u0107 will discuss hybrid genres, relations between critique and editorial, translation of verses, questions about the harmony between personal artistic creative work and behind-the-scenes literature work.<\/p>\n

Poet and essayist Vladimir Stojni\u0107<\/strong> described the book by Alen Be\u0161i\u0107: \u2018Without exaggeration, we can say that today\u2019s poetry in Serbia was striving for the book such as \u2018Golo Srce\u2019 \u2018A Naked Heart\u2019 by Alen Be\u0161i\u0107, particularly in 2021. It shows that nowadays, modern dilemmas among poets can be successfully uttered in registers that differ from the so-called experimental ones, and which try to adopt incompleteness of the world within language, where Be\u0161i\u0107\u2019s language holds the reference function of the story about the incompleteness<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n

The event is implemented within the third Kaleidoscope of Culture in Novi Sad, which marks the end of summer in the city with its everyday cultural events. Being the project of culture of togetherness that lasts throughout the year, the Kaleidoscope of Culture promotes programmes and spaces in this period, thus creating a unique picture of diversity in Novi Sad. Within five weeks and five types of art, all citizens create their own kaleidoscope of culture, which is the proof that this is a city where culture is a way of life.<\/p>\n

Organisers kindly ask all visitors to adhere to all measures in order to maintain health and enjoy cultural events. Visitors are obliged to wear masks during all events.
