\u2018Stories from the Workshop\u2019 photography exhibition by<\/strong> Bojan \u0110uri\u0161i\u0107<\/strong> will be opened in the Steel factory<\/a><\/strong>, in the former area of Great Liman, within the grand opening of the Kaleidoscope of Culture, on Friday 4 September at 9 p.m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The \u2018Stories from the Workshop\u2019 photography exhibition was created in the period from 2016 until 2019 in Novi Sad, in the former area of Great Liman. The author says this set of photographs includes the abstract structures and scenes of the walls, doors and work surfaces of the interiors and exteriors of the leaving \u2018Chinese Quarter\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018The exhibition consists of a series of 15 stylistically different photographs, multilayered abstract textures with a square shape. The biggest portion of the photographs was created in the vicinity of the exhibition space. The scenes on the photographs were captured randomly, they were real and they don\u2019t exist anymore. The audience will have a chance to see the visual code of this district,\u2019 states \u0110uri\u0161i\u0107 and adds:<\/p>\n

\u2018The photographs were captured in the workshops and surroundings where things are made or used to be made. Those were usually some dirty places, unlike the ones where these photographs are going to be installed. When it comes to photography practice, the process was as usual. I encountered dogs defending their territory, curious Balkan spies, kind passers-by and craftsmen, as well as those who mind their own business.\u2019<\/p>\n

As for the question on how the life in this area used to look like, the author says:<\/p>\n

\u2018During my work, I was only the guest of \u2018Chinese Quarter\u2019, so I can only speak from that perspective. Exploring the space, I felt curious and free. I met people who work\/live in their workshops. They were willing to show me their workshops so that I could take photographs of the dirty surfaces which they, not even knowing it, carefully designed for years, even decades.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u0110uri\u0161i\u0107 says his goal is to preserve the passing scenes and enrich the spaces that need this kind of \u2018dirt\u2019.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will be open in the Steel factory until 7 September, from noon until 11 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n
